We heart bees! Our pollinators help us produce the food our Youth Farmers grow and get back into their community. To say thank you to our pollinators, we’ve been learning all about what makes them tick. Our Macalester intern Allison Vandenberg-Daves has been supporting a group of Lyndale Youth Farmers to learn about pollinators and build a pollinator friendly habitat in our Pillsbury farm. Pollinate MN got us suited up in bee suits and taught us how to dissect a flower to see all the parts bees love. Then we picked out flowers of all shapes, colors, and seasons to create a well-rounded habitat that would appeal to all pollinators. Last night we went on a shopping trip to  Mother Earth Gardens to pick out our plants. And soon enough, we’ll get these babies into the ground. Keep checking the site for the final product. In the mean time, look at the fun we had on our shopping trip!
