On February 27 and 28th, hundreds of people from across the state gathered at the MN Landscape Arboretum to learn more about school gardens. The MN School Garden Coalition organized this conference and helped get February 27th recognized as School Garden Awareness Day in the state of MN. (Read the proclamation here!)
Youth Farm staff attended the conference and got to sample some great garden-based snacks with chef Jenny Breen, learned more about the MN Food Charter, food safety in the garden, and how school gardens and farm to school initiatives can work together and support each other. It was great to see so many people excited about school gardens and putting in the effort to make them successful across the state.
If you’re interested in learning more about what was covered at the conference, most of the presentations are available on the Arboretum’s website.
