Youth Farm and Minneapolis Public Schools Culinary & Nutrition Services are pleased to be co-hosting an AmeriCorps Vista for one year, starting in June 2014.  All are welcome to apply.  To learn more and apply for the position through the AmeriCorps website, visit: http://bit.ly/YFMPSVista.

The two organizations have complementary missions – Youth Farm’s is to grow youth leaders through hands-on urban farm projects; and MPS Culinary & Nutrition Services aims to provide wholesome, healthy meals to the 34,000 public school students.  The Vista member will help leverage our nonprofit-public partnership and solidify the connection between  garden education and healthy eating for MPS students.  Between projects like coordinating garden volunteers, conducting a Census of school gardens in the city, and developing a Youth Advisory Council, the Vista will have a chance to work with a variety of community members such as students, school staff, University of Minnesota students and faculty, chefs, and other partners.  The Vista member will spend the bulk of the summer working with Youth Farm’s on-farm programming and will spend the school year primarily working at MPS’ Nutrition Center and at school sites.
