Some young people were keen to pile the veggies in a mound and pour some of the black bean dip on top. Others, like Iveet, like to go a step further and create a masterpiece. Either way, Youth Farm helps get young people excited about and eating fresh fruits and veggies!

Hawthorne winter after school programming kicked off this last week at Nellie Stone Johnson Community School (NSJ). We teach after school cooking and farming classes at the school each Monday as part of the YMCA Beacon’s After School Program at NSJ. Last week we made a black bean dip with chopped veggies, and will be making more healthy after school snacks as the semester continues.
