Last Saturday Hawthorne Youth Farmers, All Stars and Project LEAD showed off their cooking skills at the Lowry Harvest Fest in conjunction with Minneapolis Open Streets in North Minneapolis. We cooked and sampled food with other urban agriculture groups and organizations in the Northside Fresh Coalition on the corner of Lowry Ave and Colfax Ave.
Youth cooked up veggie quesadillas, stewed apples, sampled a new cucumber tomato salsa that Minneapolis Public Schools Nutrition Services and new Farm2School program is taste testing across the school district. Saturday was an absolutely gorgeous day, and we had a blast taking the cooking out of the kitchen!
