Thanks Hyatt Regency Minneapolis!

Partner Event: B-Lectric: A Celebration of Art and Light on Sunday, January 29th from 4:30pm-9:00pm.

One of the things that does not get recognized enough is the amazing support so many business partners give to us throughout the year, especially those in the restaurant community. We have been honored to work with Barbette and Northern Spark for a number of years and we want to share an awesome free event that they are putting on.

Barbette and Northern Spark are collaborating to present B-Lectric: A Celebration of Art and Light on Sunday, January 29th from 4:30pm-9:00pm.  Free! Snow or Shine!   Northern Spark will commission artists to create projections on neighborhood buildings and ice screens that will be set up around the event.  Art Shanties will be on site,  DJ Jake Rudh(Transmission & 89.3 The Current DJ), Infiammati Fire Circus performance, Indeed Brewing, hot toddy’s and more!

Welcome Hawthorne Organizer Marcus Kar!

This week Youth Farm is honored to welcome our Hawthorne Community Organizer Marcus Kar!

Marcus comes to Youth Farm with deep connections on the Northside, a passion for community and relationship building, an ability to use music as a tool for community and youth development, and a love of food. We are honored that he has chosen to join our team.

Marcus will be learning alongside his fellow Youth Farm staff.  His work on the Northside will include working alongside Farm Steward Sergio and taking what he learns from our Youth Farm model and adapting it to fit the communities we work in on the Northside. He will also continue our partnership with Nellie Stone Johnson school working to connect farming and nutrition to the classroom.
We are excited for what he has to offer and for the enthusiasm and passion he brings to youth work and food access. Welcome Marcus!
Marcus will be the main contact for all of Youth Farm Hawthorne and Northside work. Learn more about Marcus and how to contact him here

Support Our Summer Lunch Campaign at 8 restaurants throughout May

growingcommunityThis summer, over 250 Youth Farmers will work together to prepare over 7,500 healthy meals for their peers, their family members, and their community. While much of this food is grown on site, there are still considerable needs.

In 2016, we ask you to join us in supporting Youth Farm’s summer program during the month of May to collectively raise $15,000 to cover the costs for youth employment, facilities rental, bulk produce, and staffing necessary to continue to develop the next generation of farmers, healthy eaters, and engaged young leaders!

During May, the following restaurants will be participating and providing easy ways for customers to support this program: Restaurant Alma, Barbette, Bryant Lake Bowl, Gigi’s, Pat’s Tap, Red Stag Supperclub, The Third Bird, Bread and Pickle, and Tiny Diner. At Restaurant Alma, your support is part of any tasting menu, and at all the other restaurants, look for the donation/tip line at the bottom of your bill, and add a small (or large) donation to support this important work.

A huge thanks to Youth Farm board member Alex Roberts and Ash Reynolds at Restaurant Alma as well as Kim Bartmann and Anne Saxton from all the other restaurants for their continued support of our work at Youth Farm.
