Fall is here and the gardens are still very much alive. We’ve been harvesting peppers, cucumbers, squash and gourds, tomatoes, potatoes, and lots of cool weather crops like kale, chard, and cabbage. We’ve been preserving lots of the harvested goodies, having family harvest days, donating produce locally, selling it with Roots for the Home Team and at the West Side Farmer’s Market.

Overall it has been a very productive past few weeks. With the beginning of school, Youth Farm now makes its way into the gardens and hoop-house during recess and into the kitchens and greenhouse after-school.

The gardens are still looking good.
